1982 here. I'm a bit more selective now with what I consider good value. But other than that, still going strong!

At 37, with a wife, 5y/o son, and a career, I don't have the free time to game like I used to. I used to spend hours playing Legend of Legaia, FF Tactics, Front Mission 3, ncaa football, and I loved it. I just had to adjust my priorities as my life changed. It can be done.

I never finished Star Ocean 2. I'm surprised so many held it in high regard because it was a very disappointing game for me because I heard good things about the first we never got. It has been a VERY long time, so I could be misremembering, but my main issues then the story and characters wasn't holding me, the camera seemed SUPER zoomed out so your character sprite was just this blob (could say the same about Final Fantasy 7). And despite being called STAR Ocean it seemed primarily a fantasy setting. It's kind of like isekai anime where the protagonist being from the modern world barely factors in, it's basically a fantasy series. I never rented it again. I might try the remake and give it another go.

I’m trying to decide between this and shin megami tensei 5 vengeance. Any recommendations?

I'm in my late 30s and I'm still gaming a lot, the video game franchises such as eiyuden, Witcher, GTA, super robot wars, Gundam, hunting, etc, but I love RPG type the most and the reason I am still playing video games is because I don't wanna miss out any of those classic franchise to say the least, on the other hand, no matter how old I get, I'll still love playing video games.

Hades is the first game of that genre that really clicked with me. Now I'm more open to them.

Thanks for the update! There's a ton of exciting games coming out this year. I'm most hyped for Ys, Trails, Mana, and the new Dragon Age. I appreciate the coverage of Metroidvanias as well. After RPGs Metroidvania is my second favorite genre.

I'm glad I'm not the only Dragon Age and Bioware fan looking forward to The Veilguard, it looks so good. Also, now I have a reason to play Inquisition. I can't bring myself play the monkey king game on principle due to what I heard about the development company I believe to be true. Greedfall 2 I didn't even know there was gameplay to see. I still need to finish the first anyway. Flintlock looks really cool, also need to play Ashen still.
